SwagUp alternative: Better Swag vs SwagUp

By Better Swag · Updated September 8, 2026 · 5 min read

The short answer

SwagUp sells swag packs on a platform with four membership tiers, from free to $999 a month, plus storage fees billed twice a year. Better Swag has no platform, membership, or software fee, ships catalog products one at a time from our own warehouse, and manufactures fully bespoke products at the factory. SwagUp is a strong pick for pre-assembled packs at scale; Better Swag is for teams that want the product itself to be the point.

Fees

Better Swag. You pay for the product, decoration, and shipping. There is no platform fee, no membership, and no storage bill. That is true at one unit and at ten thousand.

SwagUp. The platform is included in every tier, but the tiers unlock the things a program needs: free samples at Silver, the shop and integrations at Gold, free storage and a design team at Platinum. Storage is billed every six months per pack and per item until you reach Platinum.

Bottom line. If you run an ongoing program, compare our quote to SwagUp's product price plus the tier you would actually need plus storage. The gap is usually the membership.

Custom manufacturing

Better Swag. Studio makes products that did not exist before: cut-and-sew apparel, knitwear, plush, packaging, made at the same factories fashion brands use with our own full-time team there. You approve a physical sample before production.

SwagUp. SwagUp offers custom branding, unlimited mockups, and a dedicated design team on its top tier. Its catalog is built around packs of branded products rather than manufacturing from scratch.

Bottom line. For a logo on good products, both work. For a product only your brand could have, that is what Studio is for.

Packs and distribution

Better Swag. Catalog products ship one at a time from our warehouse, so a new hire kit goes out the week someone starts with nothing pre-assembled. Stores and gift links let recipients choose size and address.

SwagUp. Packs are SwagUp's core product: curated or custom, assembled and stored, shipped in bulk or to individuals. Redeem pages let recipients choose.

Bottom line. If you want hundreds of identical boxes assembled and stored, SwagUp is built for exactly that. If you want each person to pick, or you do not want to hold inventory, on-demand is simpler.

Who should pick SwagUp

  • Teams that want pre-assembled packs at volume and are happy to pay a membership for shop access and integrations.
  • Buyers who prefer a large self-serve catalog over working with a design team.
  • Anyone already on Gold or Platinum with inventory in their warehouse and a program that works.

Who should pick Better Swag

  • Teams that do not want a platform or membership fee, ever.
  • Brands that want a bespoke piece, not a branded blank, and want to hold the sample before production.
  • Companies that would rather ship one kit per hire on demand than assemble and store boxes.
  • Programs that need one partner for catalog, custom, and distribution.
